I’ve been fortunate enough to vacation in some lovely destinations in my lifetime, but perhaps none have been as memorable on a personal level than Italy. Back in 2000, my husband and I spent a week in Rome, and I’ll never forget all the great sights I took in: Michelangelo’s Pieta in St. Peter’s, the Colosseum, the Sistine Chapel, the final resting places of Keats and Shelley, the catacombs, etc. It was an amazing time!
I would give anything to go back to Italy sometime soon. Instead of hitting the tourist spots, however, I would go to some of the lesser-known places. For example, I’m interested in visiting the seaside town of Calabria. It’s located right in the “toe” of Italy’s boot shape, and from the pictures I’ve seen of property in Calabria, it looks like a very charming place that would offer me an entirely different experience in Italy.
I’m still hopeful that we’ll make it back to Italy someday. After all, I did throw some coins into the Trevi fountain before we left!
