Bid Your Way to the Top!

One of the things I’ve been wanting to do is promote this particular blog a lot more. I want to do everything possible to increase my Google page rank and decrease my Alexa score, but I keep putting this task off because I simply don’t have time to attend to all the marketing activities that would help me achieve my goals.

That’s why I’ve been thinking about taking a different approach. Instead of doing all the grunt work myself, I’m leaning towards submitting my blog to various bid web sites to get even better results in a shorter period of time. I’m talking about paid directories like BigWebLinks.com where sites with the highest bids get the best placement. If I bid high enough, I could end up on the very first page of the directory, which would result in mad hits for my site. Plus, the BigWebLinks.com index page has a PR of 7, so if my site is listed there, I’d definitely get some “PR juice” flowing my way.

I’ve got the money to do this — now it’s just a matter of getting over to BigWebLinks.com to place a few bids. See you at the top!

How I Met Your Mother 2×20

How I Met Your MotherJosh Radnor Neil Patrick Harris Alyson Hannigan The latest How I Met Your Mother episode was called “Showdown” and focused mostly on Barney for a change. In fact, Ted and Robin were in the background most of the time, with Barney, Marshall, and Lily getting a chance to step up. Here’s what happened in episode 2×20.

Barney: Barney grew up thinking that Bob Barker from The Price is Right was his father, so it’s always been a dream of his to meet Bob in person. As a result, he becomes a contestant on TPIR and spends most of the episode practicing for his appearance. He memorizes product pricing, tests out different walks for coming down the aisle, practices spinning the wheel, etc.

When Barney’s big day comes, he actually does very well and ends up winning everything with perfect bids. But one thing he can’t do is confront Bob about being his father because he knows it’s not true, yet he wouldn’t have been able to bear hearing the words come out of Bob’s mouth.

Marshall/Lily: The rest of the gang accuse Marshall and Lily of being co-dependant, which the couple denies vehemently. To prove it, Marshall and Lily agree to sleep apart for the two weeks leading up to their wedding. Lily moves in with Robin (temporarily) while Marshall stays with Ted. Of course, at the end of the ep, we discover that Marshall and Lily were meeting up at a hotel room every night, so they couldn’t go even one night being apart.

My Reaction: I liked this episode a lot. It was nice to see Barney portrayed as something other than a complete ass for a change, and I liked how things actually worked out for him. I like the Barney character, but felt that the writers were making him too cartoonish most of this season. It was good to see one of his schemes work out (he actually won big on The Price is Right) instead of blowing up in his face.

Some of the Marshall and Lily stuff was funny, but on the whole was a bit much. I like these two better when their sweetness towards each other isn’t shoved down our throats like it was in this ep. That goodnight tape was dumb, and I’m not sure why they couldn’t go a single night apart when Lily spent the whole summer in San Francisco.

At any rate, I’m looking forward to the wedding episode coming up! Plus, I hope we get to the Ted/Robin breakup soon. After all, this show is about Ted meeting his future wife and we already know that’s not Robin, so let’s get on with it!

The New Adventures of Old Christine - 2×21

The New Adventures of Old Christine Julia Louis-Dreyfus Last night’s episode of The New Adventures of Old Christine was called “Friends”, and dealt mainly with Christine and Richard setting new boundaries for their relationship. Here’s what happened in episode 3×21.

Ritchie goes on a camping trip with his school, but since he doesn’t do well with overnight stays, Christine, Richard, Matthew, and Barb all tag along. The four adults stay at a motel a couple miles away from the campsite, and give Ritchie a walkie talkie so he can call in if necessary.

The motel happens to be a real dump with no cell reception, pool, room service, or minibar, so Barb and Matthew head out for a two-mile trip to a gas station to get some food. On the way there, Barb’s car runs out of gas. As she’s about to step outside to begin the hike back to the motel, she hears a rattlesnake, so she immediately gets back in and prepares to bunk down for the night. There’s only one sleeping bag, so she and Matthew have to huddle together to keep warm, which becomes awkward for Matthew since he has feelings for Barb.

Meanwhile, Richard reveals that he and new Christine are on a break and haven’t talked to each other in three weeks. Old Christine convinces him to call her to let her know he’s thinking about her. Richard does, only to discover that new Christine has moved on and is already with another guy. They’re officially broken up.

Old Christine feels terrible because she’s the one who told Richard to call. Richard says there’s one way Christine can make up for it: have sex with him. At first Christine refuses because she doesn’t want to ruin their friendship. But Richard talks her into it, so they do it. The next morning, they both agree that their whole “friends with benefits” relationship could actually work out.

My Reaction:
I don’t know why the writers are still pushing this whole Barb/Matthew pairing. I’m just not feeling that one at all. Is it supposed to be funny? Endearing? I don’t know, but it comes off as gross. These two actors don’t have any kind of chemistry at all, so I don’t get the point.

I had heard some rumors that new Christine was being written off the show, but I never gave the rumors much credit. It appears that they might be true after all. I wonder why the writers would do that?? I actually like the new Christine character, but I guess they want to shake things up by making Richard date a whole string of new women or whatever. We’ll have to see where this leads. Oh, and the Christine/Richard sex: I have no opinion on that yet. It could still go either way in terms of making this show better or worse.

One ep left in the season!
