The New Adventures of Old Christine 2×22

The New Adventures of Old Christine Julia Louis-Dreyfus I just got done watching Monday night’s episode of The New Adventures of Old Christine. It was called “Frasier” for some reason… I can’t figure that one out, so if you know, clue me in! Anyway, it was the season finale and could be the series finale if you believe some of the rumors that are circulating online. I hope the show comes back, because as uneven as it has been over its first two seasons, I think there’s still a lot of potential here.

Ok — so episode 2×22 was Part Two of last week’s show where Christine and Richard decided to sleep together with no strings attached. This week, Richard gets back together with new Christine, who obviously doesn’t know what happened between him and his ex.

Old Christine is fine with that, except for the fact that she thinks she might be pregnant. She’s experiencing several symptoms, and will take a pregnancy test the next day (because she needs the “morning urine”). Meanwhile, she and Richard both freak out while they wait. They’re not ready to be parents again, and don’t know what they’d do with another baby between them.

A possible pregnancy is also bad timing because Daniel reveals that he just got a job offer at another school. He won’t be Ritchie’s teacher anymore, which means he and Christine will be free to date each other. At first, Christine puts him off, but she comes around by the end of the ep.

Oh, and it turns out that she’s NOT pregnant after all.

My Reaction: I was disappointed that Christine wasn’t pregnant. I think that would have been a boost for the show and would have given the writers lots of new avenues to explore. I mean, why even have a pregnancy “scare” in the season finale if the test is just going to turn out to be negative and if the reveal comes in the same episode?? Doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Oh, well — like I said, I hope this show returns for a full season in the fall!

Boost Your Immune System

I don’t have the healthiest diet around, so it should come as no surprise that I’m prone to getting several colds per year. It doesn’t matter what season it is, I tend to get sick every few months or so with the same symptoms. I desperately want to change this cycle, which is why I’m looking for products that promise an immune system boost.

One such product that I’ve been hearing some buzz about recently is Immunall, an all-natural herbal supplement that has been shown to increase energy levels, support the immune system, and improve overall health. Some of the specific benefits of Immunall are explained in more detail on the page I just linked to.

Immunall sounds like exactly what I need to help fend off all those annoying colds, so I might give it a try soon. If I do, I’ll post again and let you know how it works for me!

How I Met Your Mother 2×21

How I Met Your MotherJosh Radnor Neil Patrick Harris Alyson Hannigan I’m still trying to get caught up with my TV recaps, so please bear with me here! Monday night’s episode of How I Met Your Mother was called “Something Borrowed” and was the first half of the two-part arc featuring Lily and Marshall’s wedding. Here’s what I thought of episode 2×21.

First, this was yet another ep that didn’t focus on Ted, and I have to say that I kind of miss him. After all, he’s the main character on the show, isn’t he? And this is supposed to be about how he eventually meets his wife, so I’m kind of hoping the writers get back to that whole premise for Season 3. In the meantime, however, we finally got Lily and Marshall’s wedding, so I was happy about that!

Of course, I had a hard time believing some of the things that went wrong. I mean, I can see how someone would screw up Marshall’s hair, but who in their right mind would shave a line down the middle — and then leave it like that??? That was totally stupid and annoying, and not the least bit funny. Plus, Lily’s veil in the parking lot, the flowers not arriving on time, a pregnant harpist, and a high school boyfriend wanting to object to the vows? Um, a little too much there.

(I do have to say that it was good to see where Marshall’s hat came from. In the last ep, there was a quick scene of the gang at the bar after the wedding and Marshall was wearing that idiotic hat. It was totally noticeable and as soon as I saw it, I wondered what it was all about.)

Not much else happened in this ep, so I don’t really have anything else to say about it. The season finale is next week, and I sure do hope that How I Met Your Mother gets renewed for next year!

Ceiling Fan Season

It’s May already, which means that hot, sticky weather is just around the corner. It also means it’s time for my electric bill to go through the roof since I’ll likely be running the air conditioner almost constantly. My husband hates when I do this, but I work from home and have to be comfortable even if it’s 95 degrees outside!

I’ve always heard that ceiling fans are a great way to stay cool and lower energy costs during the summer months. Used in conjunction with the AC (or on their own), ceiling fans promote better air circulation, which in turn helps you feel cooler — even at higher temperatures. So if I had a ceiling fan in my home office, I’d be able to raise the thermostat several degrees and still be as comfortable as with the AC set to a lower temperature.

Anyway, I started looking for ceiling fans over at Farreys.com today and really liked several of the Casablanca fans featured on the site. They looked great and are priced well within my budget, so I’m pretty much sold on them. Plus, Casablanca ceiling fans have a solid reputation for quality and durability — two characteristics that I’m definitely looking for as well. I was particularly impressed by the Transitional and Contemporary collections, and will probably make my choice from one of those two categories.

I’ve never had a ceiling fan before, so I’m actually excited at the thought of finally buying one. I can’t wait to be cooler and start saving money on my electric bill!
