Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End held onto the top spot at the box office, despite a huge 62.4 percent decrease in earnings. Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush, and the rest of the gang still commanded $43.2 million in ticket sales, putting the third installment of the Pirates franchise well ahead of the competition.
Second place went to a movie that I want to see, a romantic comedy called Knocked Up. This film stars Katherine Heigl from Grey’s Anatomy and made $29.3 million over the weekend, which was a better-than-expected showing.
Shrek the Third earned $26.7 million for third place, and Kevin Costner’s new movie Mr. Brooks (which I also want to see) earned $10 million to debut in the No. 4 spot.
