I’m still working my way through Season 3 of House (gotta love DVRs and friends who never delete anything!) and am just about at the halfway point, so I thought I’d write up a quick post about the eps I’ve seen thus far. I’ve watched through 3×11, “Words and Deeds,” which ought to help you determine my frame of reference for this entry.
I liked how the season started. Season 2 had ended with House getting shot in his office and then hallucinating a bunch of events. Season 3 picks up several months later, after House has had successful surgery to treat both his bullet wounds and his leg. The bottom line? He can walk, run, dance, do everything without his cane! It was fun to see him running up and down the stairs, riding a skateboard, and jogging the 8 miles to work just because he could.
But, I was also glad to see House’s leg deteriorate again because he wasn’t half so interesting when he was happy!
Then there was that whole Tritter arc where House pissed off the wrong guy. I found every episode that David Morse appeared in to be boring, exasperating, and not at all fulfilling. I mean, didn’t we already do a “House in withdrawal” storyline in a previous season? Didn’t Cuddy, Wilson, and everyone else already conclude that House does indeed operate better when he’s popping painkillers?
Why, oh why were viewers subjected to that yet again? From House sweating like a pig to saying, “Give me my DAMN PILLS!” to Cuddy, to vomiting while detoxing — it was all a repeat of the previous withdrawal storyline! What a waste of time.
Other stuff: Cuddy has replaced Wilson as my second-favorite character (behind House, of course), and I’m now pretty sick of all three of House’s assistants. None of them ever do anything really surprising.
I still like the show overall, but I do hope the second part of Season 3 is a lot better than the first!
