My movie viewing habits have generally been all over the place in the past, so I’m thinking about trying something different this month. Instead of just grabbing any random DVD that I come across at the video store, I’m going to have a specific theme each week. For instance, this week I want to watch movies about bank heists. I don’t know why, but I never get tired of watching would-be robbers slicing through bank vaults with a plasma cutter or conning employees into handing over critical security information.

I’m putting together a preliminary list of heist films (that I haven’t seen yet), and this is what I’ve come up with so far:

  1. Brinks Job (1978, Peter Falk)
  2. Charley Varrick (1973, Walter Matthau)
  3. The Newton Boys (1998, Ethan Hawke, Matthew McConaughey)

I probably couldn’t handle watching more than three movies in a single week (given my heavy TV viewing schedule), but I’m open to additional suggestions here!
