After one week off, Private Practice was back last night with a brand new episode. It was called “In Which Sam Gets Taken for a Ride” and basically featured all the doctors dealing with patients with birthing issues. Moreover, all the main doctors either paired up or made appointments to pair up, which I thought was a bit too pat given the office dynamics.
Anyway, since I’m extremely busy with offline stuff today, I’m just going to give my reactions here instead of a full recap. These are random thoughts I had while watching the ep, and aren’t in any particular order.
– Hey, it’s Darlene! And she’s wielding a gun! Good to see Sara Gilbert in something; I’ve always liked her.
– Why didn’t the two other hostages at that liquor store just take off after Sam convinced Kelly to put her gun down? I would have been out of there in a second, so it didn’t make sense to me that they kept sitting right where they were. Or how about calling the cops or an ambulance while Kelly was, you know, distracted by Sam having to rotate the baby?!
– I am so, so glad that Cooper backed out of the “friends with benefits” deal with Violet. It has already been established that Cooper loves Violet, so there’s no way in hell he could have a casual fling with her. She understood what he was saying before he left, right? That it can’t be unemotional with her? I hope so!
– Addison needs to go ahead and date that cop. I am so sick of TV characters who only date someone from the workplace. As I mentioned above, everyone was ready to pair off tonight. Hey, there are three men and three women, so it’s only natural that they would try to sleep with each other! Give me a break.
– After seeing a little bit of chemistry between Pete and Addison in the last ep, I thought their opening make-out session here was lame. I’m back to not liking them as a couple. And what’s with him totally standing her up? Is a phone call asking too much? Pete’s a flake, pure and simple.
– Sam and Naomi were a surprise! And a good one at that. I would rather see them together than put up with more of their petty bickering.
That’s about all I can think of right now. I didn’t really like how all the patients were having babies, especially since seeing their various labor plights brought on a bout of flashbacks to my own painful experience. Yikes.
Anyway, I still think Private Practice is a solid show, so I’m going to stick it out!
