csilv.jpg CSI returned from its strike-induced hiatus on Thursday night with a brand-new episode called “Grissom’s Divine Comedy”. While it wasn’t the strongest CSI episode I’ve seen, it was still nice to have a new ep for a change. Plus, I enjoyed Bonnie Bedelia’s guest turn as DA Madeline Kline, who seems to have a history with Grissom. There was just one storyline last night, with the entire crew working on the same case. As such, I’m not going to bother with a recap on this one; I’ll just post a few random thoughts instead.

– William Petersen looked totally different in this ep! The beard is back (it was gone for most of the season, right?), his hair is dyed, and there’s been some noticeable weight loss. I’ve never been a big fan of Petersen’s, but I thought he actually looked good (despite the fact that he was supposed to be sick).

– Warrick seems to be back to normal. I hope the writers just drop all of the stupid character “developments” they were setting up before the strike. I could do without an addiction/gambling/angst storyline for this guy.

– For once, I agree with Hodges. Nick should have worn a mask to work or stayed home. The way he was coughing and sneezing all over the place was totally disgusting.

– The main case was boring and confusing, though that could be just because of the way it was set up. It took me the longest time to figure out what was going on in the beginning because of the quirky editing and cuts. At first, I thought this was going to be some kind of corporate whistleblower case. It wasn’t until about 10 minutes in that I caught on.

– As I said, I liked Bonnie Bedelia in this ep and wouldn’t mind seeing her again. Maybe this will turn into a recurring role?

Overall, I guess this was a decent way to come back from the hiatus. Hopefully the second half of this shortened season will be much better than the first!
