Home Theater Essentials

With as many movies and TV shows that I watch, you’d think that I’d have a sweet home theater set up to enjoy all of this media. But that’s not the case at all. While I do have a nice, relatively new LCD flat-panel television and a top-of-the-line DVD player, I don’t have external speakers, subwoofers, receivers, or anything else to enhance my viewing experience. Heck, I don’t even have a proper TV Stand for my Sharp Aquos; it’s currently balanced rather precariously on a wheeled cart that isn’t even the right size!

I obviously need to rectify this situation, so I’ve been shopping around for different products that will help me put my home theater together. Today I came across www.StandsOnline.com, a terrific website that specializes in selling affordable TV Stands, wall mounts, and complete entertainment centers for the latest LCD and plasma televisions on the market. The products at StandsOnline.com come from trusted manufacturers such as Omnimount, Peerless, Vantage Point, and more, so I know I’ll be getting my money’s worth no matter what I buy.

To make their great deals even better, StandsOnline.com also offers free domestic shipping on all their merchandise, so now is a great time to purchase Audio Video Towers, speaker mounts, and everything else a state-of-the-art home theater needs.

If you’re as much of a movie and television addict as I am, you simply must check out the vast selection of home entertainment products over at www.StandsOnline.com today. I’m sure you’ll enjoy browsing through the site as much as I did!

CSI 8×13

csilv.jpg Another brand-new episode of CSI aired last night. Since Grey’s Anatomy hasn’t come back with original eps after the writers’ strike, I didn’t have anything else competing for my attention in that timeslot. Epsiode 8×13 was called “A Thousand Days on Earth” (a reference that I don’t get) and once again featured a single plot with all of the CSIs working on the same case.

Plot summary (with possible spoilers): This time around, a little girl’s body was found inside a cardboard box in a parking lot. She apparently died of blunt force trauma to the head, so the CSIs approach the case from a child abuse angle. The team questions a sex offender living in the vicinity of the body recovery site, but didn’t have enough evidence to hold him. They then catch a break when an inmate sees a picture of the dead girl on the news and realizes it’s his daughter.

It turns out that the inmate gave custody of his daughter to someone he had previously done time with. The other con had a family of his own, and when all the kids were playing together, the little girl ended up hiding under a sink near a bunch of toxic chemicals. Her death was accidental, but the con panicked and disposed of her body like that to avoid contact with the police.

My Reaction:
Here are a few random thoughts I had while watching this episode play out.

warricknick.jpg — I can’t believe the writers are just totally dropping all of the trouble Warrick had in the few eps leading up to the strike. He was popping pills, drinking, gambling, seeing prostitutes, and getting in trouble at work. Now everyone’s acting like nothing out of the ordinary ever happened. I wouldn’t want to see the character do a prolonged stint in drug rehab or anything like that, but there should be some kind of fallout.

– I kind of liked how the beginning and end of this ep were different from what we usually see. The teaser finally featured some characters that didn’t end up dead before the theme music started, and the end had a wrongly accused suspect confronting Catherine. Neither of these things has happened before, which made the differences all the more noticeable. I hope there’s some follow-up to the Catherine story, as I believe it’s time for her to be called out about her attitude regarding suspects.

– No Grissom/Sara angst in this one. I’ve never been on board that ship, so I was happy not to have any hints or references to the departed CSI at all.

Overall, this was kind of a boring — and very depressing — episode, but it did have some good things to offer. That being said, I don’t think it’s one that I’ll ever end up watching again!
