Okay, the last thing I wanted to add to my regular rotation of television series was yet another so-called procedural drama, but I’d heard so many good things about NCIS that I couldn’t resist. As a result, I’m currently working my way through the Season One DVDs, in between DVDs of Without a Trace, My Name Is Earl, Ghost Whisperer, etc. etc.

I’ve watched the first four episodes of the series so far and think it’s a decent program, but nothing outstanding (yet). For those of you who have never seen it, the show follows a team of investigators from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. The NCIS typically deals with crimes involving Navy and Marine personnel, and though the title might lead you to believe that the team would work on everything from black market diet pills to embezzlement and fraud, all the cases I’ve seen have been murders.

Anyway, I do think the program has potential, and I’m definitely encouraged by the fact that it is going into Season 6 in September. A primetime show can’t last that long these days without some quality episodes and storylines along the way, right?

So I’ll keep right on going with the S1 DVDs even though I haven’t been blown away thus far. After all, Mark Harmon, even at 50+, is still very easy on the eyes!
