Last night’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy was called “The Ties That Bind”, and could very well be the one that turns me off of the show for good. I am so sick of this STUPID storyline involving Denny’s ghost that I now fast forward anytime he appears on the screen. I simply can’t believe that the writers insist on shoving this guy down our throats, especially when he wasn’t exactly a favorite when he was actually, ya know, alive.
The only thing preventing me from writing GA off for good right now is that I’ve read some rumors that the ghost bs is setting up a situation in which Izzie has a brain tumor or some other neurological problem. Apparently, despite what everyone in the Grey’s camp was saying over the summer hiatus, actress Katherine Heigl really might be written out of the show as part of the fallout from her comments about the writing quality last season.
If this is just a setup for Heigl’s exit, I might be inclined to sit through a few more discomforting weeks until the storyline resolves itself. Even though I like the Izzie character most of the time and would be sad to see her go, I would still watch the show if she wasn’t on it.
But then again, I don’t see why creator/writer/producer Shonda Rhimes had to go this route to get rid of Izzie. There was a much more plausible setup with Hahn threatening to report Seattle Grace’s ethics violations, and that scenario would have killed two birds (uh, characters) with one stone, not to mention saving viewers from the crap that is Denny and Izzie.
Ugh. The worst part about this for me is the way they’re trying to portray Izzie and Denny as the love story to end all love stories. Give me a break. They aren’t Heathcliff and Catherine, ya know? Their story has always been ridiculous (she falls for him while he’s literally on his death bed and agrees to marry him within weeks of meeting him, then takes FOREVER to get over this man that she barely knew), but this is just pushing it.
Anyway, I’m so exasperated by this stupid storyline that I can’t even bring myself to write about anything else that happened last night. This is just DUMB!
Wow, I’m glad I gave up the show after Season 3 ! I read something about Izzie making out with the ghost of Denny and was like WTF ? I hope Shonda Rhimes doesn’t resort to these ’stunts’ on Private Practice otherwise that show will be dead to me too.
I like Katherine Heigl so would be happy if she left. And given she now can headline her own movies, I wouldn’t be surprised if she wants an ‘out’ from Greys.
