dh-logo1.jpg Last night’s episode of Desperate Housewives was called “City on Fire”, and was supposed to be the show’s big entry for November sweeps. The way it was promoted, viewers were led to believe that someone close to Susan would die in the big fire or that some characters we “know” would die. Plus, we were supposed to find out for sure who Dave has been targeting all this time. Unfortunately, the whole thing was pretty lame — and was still rather vague for a show that was supposed to be so full of answers.

– It appears that Dave is targeting Mike, but as I just said, the writers were actually a bit vague in that respect. Did Mike ever mention anything about killing someone while he was in prison? I think he did, right (to Susan back when they were dating)? I guess that’s the tie-in there, that the person Mike killed was Dave’s brother. But still, what an elaborate setup by Dave just for some revenge. Gimme a break.

– Julie dating one of her professors is kind of an obvious “twist”. She’s always acted mature for her age, so it makes sense that she would be attracted to older guys. I do like the fact that she didn’t fall for the proposal thing, though I’m pretty sure she’ll change her mind about marriage later on.

– Hey, the other Scavo twin finally showed up and told a parent what was going on with his brother!! It’s about damn time!

– I’m glad Lynnette went back to rescue the woman (sorry, having a lot of trouble with names right now) after the husband found out about the affair. It would have been so easy to walk away and let the woman fend for herself. Wow, that guy really is a psycho, isn’t he? I thought the woman might have just been saying that to make Porter feel sorry for her.

– The fire in the club was lame. This was supposed to be a sweeps episode? It felt like nothing happened!

– Bree’s interview with the reporter was so typical. I love how she tries to put on this perfect facade, and the shot of Orson sitting in the wing chair reading a book was just priceless! Bree’s always going to be that uptight, isn’t she? I think she’d be much happier letting things slide. What’s a little dust or a dead flower or two when it means you can spend more time with a good book?

– The old woman stalking the Solis family is beyond creepy. Putting them in her will and enrolling the girls into a private school an hour away crosses all kinds of lines. She’s so weird, and yet I can’t help feeling sorry for her. I guess that’s a testament to the actress….

– I was disappointed to see Mrs. McCluskey and her sister basically giving up on the Dave investigation. They need to keep digging — especially now that the only other person who knows his secret is dead!
