Last night’s episode of Desperate Housewives was called “A Vision’s Just a Vision”, and pushed several of the season-long storylines forward. Moreover, we actually got a reveal in the Dave mystery — though it was quite anticlimactic as he did indeed say that “Mike Delfino has to pay” for what happened. It wasn’t exactly clear what happened, but judging from the fact that Dave was seeing the ghosts of his dead wife and child throughout the ep, I think it’s safe to guess that they were the two who were killed in that car accident that Mike and Susan were in 5 years ago. Apparently, Dave’s plan is to make Mike lose his loved ones in the same manner, so that means Susan and MJ are in danger.
Other thoughts:
– Carlos and Gabby are definitely my favorite couple. I thought their storyline — while predictable — was very sweet in its own way. I loved how Carlos didn’t realize how bad their financial situation was until he looked around the empty closet, and how he sold that baseball to buy her a designer gown. Aww!
– I seriously cannot believe that Lynnette would let Preston pose as Porter in a court of law. How low can that woman stoop?? That’s just wrong on so many levels, and will likely end up getting Preston in trouble as well. Her parenting style is way out of control, yet she thinks this is perfectly normal because she’s doing it “for her family”. Whatever.
– I really enjoyed the scene between Andrew and Bree in the garage. Five years ago, Andrew would have gotten pissed at his mother for “meddling” in his love life, and would have accused her of trying to break him and Alex up just because she’s homophobic or something. But this time, he could see that she’s simply trying to protect him because she loves him. And as for Bree, I liked how as soon as she saw that Andrew was ok with Alex’s past, she became ok with it as well. I hope this pairing works out!
– Meh, I’m not really interested in the Susan/Mike/Katherine/MJ drama. It’s not exactly original storytelling to have a kid get jealous of his divorced dad’s new girlfriend and to act out on that jealousy in inappropriate ways. Yawn.
Anyway, this was a fairly decent episode with some good one-liners and plot advancement. But the Dave “mystery” better have some unpredictable payoff that isn’t telegraphed several months ahead or else I will be severely disappointed!
