mw1 I’ve finally finished the first five seasons of NCIS on DVD, and am now working my way through Season 6, thanks to the full episodes available online at the CBS website. This show has really developed into one of my favorites — it’s one of the few that I actually look forward to watching still instead of just tuning in out of sheer habit.

While Gibbs is undoubtedly still my favorite character, I have to admit that Tony is growing on me a bit. At first, he was more of an annoyance than anything else, but whenever the writers tone down his frat boy antics, the character is actually a decent one. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that Michael Weatherley is such a good-looking guy! Seriously, is it just me or has he actually gotten handsomer as the series has progressed? In earlier seasons, he was a bit chubby and his face was rounder, but it seems like he’s been hitting the weight room and/or the Solo Slim pretty hard because now his features are more chiseled and defined… very nice to look at!

Heck, even Ziva has grown on me, and I couldn’t stand her for the first two seasons that she was on the show. The writers have gone out of their way to make her appear more human recently, instead of just the humorless, single-minded trained assassin persona she adopted at the beginning. And I’m not even bothered by the way she flirts with Tony anymore — something that used to drive me up the wall when it was first happening.

NCIS isn’t one of those shows that will garner a lot of attention from critics or win Emmy awards, but I think it’s solid entertainment. Judging from the way new episodes routinely pull in around 18 million viewers, it’s safe to say that others agree with me!
