One television show that I really enjoyed was The Sopranos. The show had truly terrific characters, starting at the top with Tony and going all the way down through the entire supporting cast. The storylines were compelling as well, and though I usually don’t go in for too much violence, The Sopranos was so brilliantly written that none of the shootings or killings ever seemed gratuitous. And of course the actors are all top-notch, with James Gandolfini and Edie Falco winning numerous Emmys for their work on the show.
Anyway, The Sopranos was one of those shows where you had to pay attention to what was going on during so you could understand the series-long story arc that encompassed the rivalry between Tony’s family and Johny Sac’s family. Unfortunately, I am pretty bad at picking up and remembering details in television shows, so I’m sure I could watch all the eps again and it would be like seeing them for the very first time.
That’s why I think buying The Sopranos — Complete Series DVD box set would be well worth the money. The box set contains 33 discs in all. Twenty-eight of those are for the 86 episodes that aired during the show’s five seasons on HBO. Then there are two discs of special features, including episode commentary, audition reels for some of the cast, deleted scenes, and interviews with creator David Chase. In addition, the box set comes with 3 audio CDs containing music featured on the show. This sounds like an awesome set!
The Sopranos — Complete Series usually retails for around $399, which is a price I could never bring myself to pay. But the box set is currently on sale for just $259 as part of Buy.com’s Weekly Deals. This is definitely a bargain, so I have a feeling The Sopranos will become a new addition to my DVD collection very soon!
