bruno1 I will never understand the attraction here, but Sacha Baron Cohen’s Bruno earned the title of box office champion this weekend by racking up a healthy $30.4 million in ticket sales. I didn’t see Borat, nor do I plan to watch this film. His brand of “humor” just doesn’t appeal to me at all, so I’m not even going to bother wasting my time. To each his own, I guess.

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs dropped down a spot to second place with $28.5 million in earnings, while Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen took third after adding another $24.2 million to its amazing total gross of $339 million.

The only other new release to make the list was the teen comedy I Love You, Beth Cooper. Starring Hayden Panettiere, this film has an absolutely brutal 11% aggregate “fresh” rating from Rotten Tomatoes, which is worse than Transformers. Yikes!

Here’s the complete Top 10 at the box office for the weekend ending 7/12/09:

  2. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, $28.5 million
