HIMYM 5×06 — “Bagpipes”: I don’t know what’s wrong, but I’m just not feeling How I Met Your Mother this season. All the eps seem slightly off for some reason, and I’m beginning to think it’s because of the Barney/Robin pairing. After all, that’s the only significant change that has occurred, right? So either that’s the problem or the whole premise of the show has just gotten stale — which I suppose is also a possibility.
Look, I’m the biggest Barney/Robin shipper around, but I have to admit that they’re not that interesting as a couple anymore. Prior to their hookup, it was fun looking out for the little moments that they shared together. Now, they just seem wrong in so many ways, which completely bums me out.
This episode did have some good parts, like the Barney/Lily fantasy pairing, but on the whole it felt like I was simply waiting for laughs that never materialized. Still, it was nice to see Marshall get something substantial to do for once.
Anyway, I’m sticking with the show for now, but I certainly don’t look forward to it as much as I used to!
