It was great having 30 Rock back the other night, and even better to have two brand-new episodes to watch! I didn’t have a chance to watch them on Thursday, but thanks to the miracle that is TiVo, I got around to them this morning. Anyway, both were solid, but I definitely liked the first one better.

30 Rock 4×09 — “Klaus and Greta”: For most of the episode, I had no idea what woman Jack was freaking out over. I completely forgot the Julianna Moore character that appeared A MONTH AGO before the hiatus. Still, that didn’t have an impact on my enjoyment, as there were so many great lines and gags in this one. Kenneth and Jonathan proving their litheness by wriggling through coat hangers, Jonathan inadvertently taking pictures on the woman’s computer, the voice mail code spelling out Jack’s name in his high school German class. That stuff is so damn random that it’s hilarious! And I can’t forget about James Franco and his Japanese body pillow obsession! OMG!!! He seems like one of the rare cool celebs who doesn’t take himself too seriously.

30 Rock 4×10 — “Black Light Attack!”: This ep had some good moments as well. I particularly enjoyed Jack figuring out that Lemon was Danny’s secret office romance and then proving his hunch by turning on the black light with Liz in the room. I also loved the final scene between Liz and Jack, where she was teasing him about his lie (about being in love with her) is becoming a reality. It was awesome how he just walked away in disgust while she danced like a complete doofus.

Speaking of disgust, though, why are the writers going out of their way to make it seem like Liz Lemon is disgusting? I know that’s been a running gag for all 4 seasons, but Tina Fey is not disgusting. I mean, I don’t understand why she has to wear Spanx. It’s not like she’s fat and needs to lose weight quickly in order to have a normal body, ya know? Sure, they give her goofy hair and clothes, and put that fake mustache on her. And make her cram handfuls of food in her mouth and spit milk on Toofer’s sweater. But does anyone really believe she’s nasty??!!
