HIMYM 5×13 — “Jenkins”: This was a decent stand-alone episode. I’m usually not much of a Marshall fan, but I was reasonably interested in what was happening with him and Lily. I especially liked their dialogue about the reacher and the settler in a relationship, but didn’t agree that Lily was the settler. If they were going on looks alone, then yes, she could be considered the settler. But what if they went by job? Marshall is a corporate lawyer and she’s a kindergarten teacher. Who’s settling there? How about salary? Same thing. And Marshall didn’t become a lawyer by getting one of those accredited online degrees that are so popular these days. He went to an Ivy League school, which is a big damn deal!
In most of the real-life relationships I see around me, it seems that most of the couples are evenly matched rather than having one reacher and one settler. I think most people feel this way, don’t they?
The Robin drinking game thing was sort of lame, but I liked seeing Ted interact with his students. Ted sometimes comes off as a douche around his peers, but I think college students would think he was a cool professor. I would probably want to hang around with him if I were his student!
This one was directed by NPH. Could that be why there was so little Barney in front of the camera?
