I don’t watch Dancing with the Stars, but I must say I’m enjoying Bristol Palin’s run on the show. Not because I think she’s a particularly good dancer or anything like that (she’s not), but because of how so many people are in a tizzy over her getting voted through week after week. Seriously, have you read some of the discussion forums and message boards? There is just so much HATE out there that it would be disgusting if it weren’t so damn hilarious!!!
I mean, people are talking about preserving the “integrity” of this show and are lamenting that it has become a “popularity contest” rather than a dance competition. Yeah, like DWTS has ever really been about the dancing. And integrity??? It’s a friggin’ TV show ferchrissakes! What are people all up in arms about?
There’s only one reason Bristol is generating this much attention, and that’s because of her last name. Fans of other dancers have accused Sarah and Bristol of organizing “voting blocs” to keep Bristol and Mark coming back week after week. Um, do yourselves a favor and check Palin’s Twitter or Facebook accounts. Not once has Sarah ever asked her followers or fans to vote for Bristol. Sure, there might be “right-wing websites” urging readers to vote for Bristol, but how the hell is that under Palin’s control??? And why is it Bristol’s fault that the other contestants don’t have a similar following? Should she be blamed that there’s no site called mondaymorningquarterbacks4warner or babyfans4jennifer? NO!!!
The show is what it is. People can vote as many times as they want weather they watch the show or not, have a valid email address or not, or actually know anything about dancing or not. Putting the blame on Bristol and saying things like she should withdraw or “at least feel guilty” about making it this far is completely ridiculous.
Keep getting riled up, folks. Over a television show of all things!!!
