Modern Family 3×05 — “Hit and Run”: I didn’t care for this episode too much. The only storyline I found even mildly interesting was Claire’s intention to run for city council. I thought for sure they were setting up for some kind of Sarah Palin joke, but that didn’t happen. Still, I think Claire will win, so there’s still the potential to get a jest or two in at some point down the road.
I thought Hailey’s thing with the IDs was fairly believable — all except for the price. Either she was buying for A LOT of people, or she was getting ripped off. $900? Sure they might not be on any parent’s list of top 10 graduation presents, but fake IDs were the thing to get when I was in high school in the ’90s. Every summer after graduation, a group of seniors (soon to be college freshmen) would gather for a road trip to the “fake ID place,” where they cost like $25 a pop. Even accounting for inflation, Hailey was still buying for a lot of other kids.
Oh, and being grounded for just 2 weeks was pretty lenient of Phil. I guess he’s still into being the “fun parent.”
