Castle 4×05 — “Eye of the Beholder”: While this episode was a lot better than last week’s, I still find myself only perking up and paying close attention when Beckett and Castle are on screen together. It’s official, I guess: I’m ONLY watching this show now because of the relationship potential between the two leads.
In that regard, I thought they took some baby steps after last night. Beckett finally got around to showing some jealousy, which really hasn’t happened in the past. She has always kind of rolled her eyes at Castle’s romantic exploits, but this time, she couldn’t help letting her feelings through. I particularly loved how she shouted, “HEY!” when she saw Castle and Serena (or whatever her name was) kissing. I think last season’s Beckett might have just smirked, put her gun down, and walked away leaving Esposito to deal with the situation. But things have happened and now she felt the need to interrupt them herself.
As for that kiss, I know it was just a ploy and all, but it kind of bothered me that it was almost the EXACT same situation as Castle and Beckett’s first kiss in Knockdown. Clearly that was an intentional move by the writers (there were so many other ways to play the kiss), but I didn’t like that at all.
