Castle 4×17 — “Once Upon a Crime”: This was one of the better episodes of the season, IMO. The case was at least somewhat interesting, and I thought the interaction between Castle and Beckett was much better. This time around, instead of giving viewers just one tiny moment at the very end (a la Bones), we were treated to a bit of banter during the investigation. That element has been missing recently, so it was nice to get it back.
Speaking of a moment at the end, I thought the hand-holding was nice. Sure, it’s practically nothing for where they should be in their relationship by this point, but I thought it was significant in a few ways. First, Beckett initiated, which doesn’t happen often. Second, this occurred at Castle’s apartment in front of his family, which shows that Kate is very comfortable being part of Castle’s home life. And third, the moment was organic to the scene and didn’t feel forced or awkward (unlike that hand-stroking at Beckett’s apartment during the dog episode). So… it was minute progress, to be sure, but progress nonetheless. Hallelujah!

The Good Wife 3×15 –”Live From Damascus:” This was kind of a disappointing follow-up to the superb “Another Ham Sandwich.” I wasn’t interested in the case, there was too much Eli/Amy Sedaris, and the Will shit just won’t go away. I mean, COME ON! I don’t know the first thing about state bar associations and there disciplinary procedures, but would a six-month suspension really mean Will has to take his name off the firm’s door and stationery? That seems rather extreme, doesn’t it? After all, he’s still a partner even though he can’t practice — which is why he’s allowed to be in the offices when discussing issues related to running the business. I don’t get it.
NCIS 9×16– “Psych Out”: I liked Jamie Lee Curtis’ first appearance at NCIS and her interaction with Tony, but then things kind of went downhill from there. The case didn’t make much sense to me, and the subplot about McGee’s pay was totally unnecessary. I could probably get on board with JLC having a recurring role and becoming Gibbs’ latest love interest because I do see some potential there. But this week’s effort just didn’t work out very well.
Criminal Minds 7×15 — “A Thin Line”: This episode was so boring that I pretty much stopped watching after the first 15 minutes and just played Scrabble on my iPad instead. Sure, the show was still on in the background and I would occasionally look up from my game to see what was happening, but I didn’t follow it closely enough to be able to tell you what happened. I think I’m done with Criminal Minds. I mean, honestly, I barely even try to watch these episodes anymore. I’m just going through the motions at this point and ought to quit wasting my time!
Modern Family 3×16 — “Virgin Territory”: I thought this was a good episode all the way around. The part with Phil and Haley was touching, and I’m glad the show didn’t handle her “revelation” like some kind of after school special with dire warnings, a screaming fit, etc. And it was so sweet when Haley did her interview and said, “I have a cool dad.” Aw.
