Modern Family 3×19 — “Election Day”: This episode was mostly boring for me. I realize they had to wrap up the whole election thing, but to have Claire lose just made the entire storyline feel like a waste. They tried to shove in a parallel about Haley’s college entrance efforts, but that just wasn’t enough to make this episode satisfying.
There were a few funny lines, such as Phil’s “Our daughter might be going to college!” and the stuff with Cam and Mitchell calling out some woman’s fiance as gay. On the whole, though, this was rather forgettable.
Plot summary (from the studio): Sam (Nicholas D’Agosto) has a premonition in which he and most of his friends — as well as numerous others — die in a horrific bridge collapse. When his vision ends, events begin to mirror what he had seen, and he frantically ushers as many of his colleagues — including his friend, Peter (Miles Fisher), and his girlfriend, Molly (Emma Bell) — away from the disaster before Death can claim them.
Criminal Minds 7×19 — “Heathridge Manor”: Oh, wow, that was just terrible. Yet another episode where the unsub and other horribly inept guest actors dominate the scenes instead of the characters that fans tune in every week to watch. Plus, they had to go and insert that utterly creepy incest vibe for absolutely no reason except to add “shock” value to the dumb script. What a waste.
Plot summary (from the studio): Acclaimed filmmakers Steven Spielberg and JJ Abrams join forces in this extraordinary tale of friendship, mystery and adventure. Super 8 tells the story of six friends who accidentally film a train wreck only to discover that something unimaginable escaped during the crash. Now the only thing more mysterious than what it is – is what it wants.
Castle 4×20 — “The Limey”: First, let me start by saying this should have been episode 5, not 20. Beckett talking to Lainie, Castle acting out, Beckett slowly coming around… the characters should have gone through this A LONG TIME AGO. So while this kind of “development” was appreciated on some level, a big part of me can’t help but feel that it’s too little, too late. If this had come earlier in the season, I would have been far more forgiving. As it is now, it’s hard for me to look past these stupid delays any longer.
