Modern Family 3×24 — “Baby on Board”: This was kind of a strange finale. First, I didn’t see the Gloria pregnancy twist coming at all, but I like it and think it can bring some much needed energy and change to the Pritchett-Delgado storylines.
Even so, I thought it was a questionable decision to juxtapose Gloria’s good news with Mitchell and Cameron’s devastation. Those two have been looking forward to another baby for a long time and they keep getting disappointed. Then, when they finally thought they were coming home with a newborn boy, they got some more devastating news. To have them lying in a field crying while Gloria is exulting over a new baby was just…odd.
The Dunphys provided most of the laughs in this ep (as usual). I loved Alex’s prom date, particularly when he struck a flamboyant pose when Phil wanted to take “one more [picture], with flash”. I’m a little upset that Dylan and Haley won’t be living together next year, though. Can you imagine what a household run by those two airheads would look like???
Even though Modern Family has lost some of its sheen for me, I’ll still be tuning in for Season 4!
