Cougar Town 3×14-3×15 — “My Life”/”Your World”: This finale was alright. At first I was happy to hear that Cougar Town got picked up by TBS and will be around for at least another couple of seasons, but after this finale I realized that I would have been perfectly okay if the series ended right there with Jules and Grayson’s wedding.
I really wonder how much further these characters can go. Ellie and Bobby in particular are stagnating, with no real prospects for doing anything interesting. Andy at least has that mayor thing, and Laurie has her cake shop. But how much more mileage can the writers wring out of these people? And we’re clearly headed for a Travis/Laurie hookup, which I do NOT want to see, so I’m not that excited about Season 4 anymore.
I did like that Jules and Grayson got to have their wedding on the beach, and I liked that Travis finally got to drink wine with the group. But the anger storyline didn’t grab me, nor did the Pennycan thing. And Ellie openly flirting with Daniel despite Andy’s protests was just ridiculous. I just don’t know about this show now….

Cougar Town writers, what are you doing? It looks as though Ellie and Andy are headed for a divorce. What is wrong with you! The one thing that has kept this show endearing is the loyalty that this cul-de-sac crew feels towards each other. Sure they’re quirky; they tease each other; they gang up and single one individual out to teach each a life lesson, but it’s all out of love and loyalty. They forgive and move on quickly. But now you have Ellie openly flirting with another man and Andy looking helpless on the side. Enough. This is going down a sad path. I loved the episode where the park ranger asked Ellie on a date and she blatantly stated, “No.” It drove home that sense of loyalty. I’m not happy with what you guys are doing. Is this an attempt to make the name Cougar Town finally have a purpose. Leave it alone. It’s okay for the name to just be quirky and make no sense. You don’t have to fix the title by messing up the story line!
Cougar Town picked up by TBS. That’s great!!
