Breaking Bad 5×03: “Hazard Pay”: This was a very good episode, IMO. First, I thought Skyler’s breakdown at the car wash was EPIC! She seemed to be taking most things in stride up to this point, but man, that screaming fit just showed how she is right on the edge. She’s getting to be way to much of a weak link recently. I think Walt is going to notice that soon and get her out of the picture somehow, whether it be sending her to some nice North Carolina beach house rentals for a few months or whatever. It’s clear that she can’t keep leading a double life like he does.
Speaking of Walt, he is so far over the edge that he hasn’t seen it in months. I can’t believe he was watching Scarface with his baby daughter in his lap and laughing about the on-screen shootout with Walt Jr. He clearly sees himself as some kind of kingpin and is probably prepared to go out in a blaze of glory if it comes to that. Wow, what a transformation from the blubbering, blithering idiot he was in Season 1.
Poor Jesse, manipulated by Walt yet again. Just when Jesse has something go right in his personal life, Walt comes along to sabotage it. I used to want more scenes of Walt and Jesse hanging out together and wanted to see their father-son relationship develop, but not now. Now Walter is just disgusting and beyond redemption, and I don’t want him anywhere near Jesse. Please let Jesse get some measure of revenge by the end of the series!
Looks like Mike and Walt are destined to butt heads for the duration of their partnership. It’ll be interesting to see who comes out on top in that matchup!
With the lack of summer viewing options starting to get to me, I decided to sign up for Hulu Plus just to ensure I always have something to watch. While most people would probably just stick to Netflix, I really wanted to see what Hulu Plus was all about. The $7.99/mo isn’t all that overwhelming, so I decided to go for it.
Burn Notice 6×06 — “Shock Wave”: I had mixed feelings about this episode. On the one hand, I’m positively thrilled that Anson is dead and Fiona is out of jail. I’ve been waiting for those things to happen all season. On the other, I’m sad that Nate died. I knew this would happen (I accidentally read a spoiler), but that didn’t detract from the moment. As soon as I saw Nate going rogue during the operation instead of sitting around with
