I haven’t been to the theater in a while and was thinking about catching Rock of Ages. I’m scared by all the bad reviews, though. Does the movie really suck or is it at least watchable? With an ensemble cast featuring Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Russel Brand, Paul Giamatti, Catherine Zeta-Jones, etc. etc. it can’t be complete garbage, can it?
I’m really just interested in the musical numbers and the instruments they use in the film. I think I read somewhere that Taylor 214 acoustic guitars are featured heavily. Is that true? If so, that would be pretty cool. I don’t know much about guitars, but a friend of mine who plays in a band has that guitar, so that’s one of the few looks/sounds that I actually know about. I think it would be sweet to hear one of the principal actors play a solo using a Taylor 214!
Anyway, based on the trailer, Rock of Ages seems like it might be pretty funny. I wonder why it’s tanking so bad at the box office. Have a look:
