It’s no surprise that The Dark Knight Rises held on for another week as the No. 1 movie in America. It was pretty much a forgone conclusion that the film would earn hundreds of millions in its first few weeks. Even without trailers, commercials, full-page magazine ads, promotional water bottles, t-shirts, and other kinds of advertising, this final installment of the Christopher Nolan/Christian Bale take on the franchise was destined to be a big hit.
The Watch, a comedy starring Vince Vaughan, Ben Stiller, and Jonah Hill, opened with a disappointing $13 million, while Step Up Revolution, earned just $11.8 million. No other new releases cracked the Top 10.
