Modern Family 4×14 — “A Slight at the Opera”: This episode was marginally better than previous efforts from this season. The different pairings were interesting, especially since we haven’t seen much (if any) of Alex/Gloria one on one. I also liked seeing Pepper again (if only to contrast this Nathan Lane character with the straight-laced [pun intended] character he’s been playing on Good Wife all season) and was glad that Mitchell got to shine in a sporting event instead of embarrassing himself like usual.
Although I usually love Claire, her storyline didn’t really work for me this time around. She was going way overboard trying to stage an accident so Phil would feel bad about leaving stuff around the house, and since there wasn’t much of a payoff to that whole angle, I felt it was a waste.
I liked seeing Luke be good at something and was relieved that the writers let him have a nice moment in the spotlight with his whole family there to see him.

I just love this show, reminds me of Married with Children ,i’m happy to see Ed O’Neill again.
