Modern Family 4×16 — “Bad Hair Day”: I didn’t like this one very much. None of the storylines clicked, and only a few lines were funny/memorable. The best part for me was how Mitchell, Cam, Manny, Luke, and Jay blackmailed each other into taking the blame for Joe’s haircut. Yeah, the ethics in that family are questionable, but it’s a sitcom.
I usually like Phil and Claire, but not this time around. The reunion story was pretty lame (there’s NO WAY a college prof with 20 years at the school and perhaps tenure too would still be living in student housing) and there was nothing redeeming about the way Claire came to “appreciate” her life with Phil. And what was the point of having Bud Bundy (wow, that actor is SHORT!) on the show and not even put him in a scene with Jay????
I really think this show has run its course. There’s no way I’m buying an iTunes Season Pass next fall — unless something drastic happens in the final eight eps.
