Castle 5×22 — “Still”: This episode was totally worth the wait! I had remained unspoiled about what happened, and was pleasantly surprised to see that Castle actually delivered a quality clip show. I know a lot of people hate clip shows and think they’re a lazy way to get through an entire ep, but this was framed so uniquely (Castle helping Beckett pass the time while the bomb squad tries to disarm the explosive device she’s triggered) that the writers deserve a lot of credit.
The clips themselves served to remind me how little I remember about this series. I couldn’t place 95% of them in the right season, and the ONLY episode I even recognized was the kiss from Knockout. (Wait, I remember when Beckett got shot, too, but don’t recall the name of the ep.) When I contrast this with how I can identify every little Adrian Monk/Natalie Teeger clip in .005 seconds, it becomes clear where my loyalties lie.
And then of course we had the mutual ILYs, Beckett’s phone call to her father, and Gates admitting that she had known about the two of them for a while. I think it’s pretty safe to say that “Still” is now one of my favorite Castle episode from the entire series!!
